H.H. Mar Dinkha IV Conducts Service During Great Fast

His Holiness Mar Dinkha IV Catholicos Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East offered the service of the Holy Eucharist at St. George Cathedral in Chicago, celebrating the halfway mark of the Great Fast ahead of Easter.

Present at the service were Archdeacon Aprim DeBaz, Archdeacon Shlemon Khazqiel, Archdeacon Qardagh Hakim, Archdeacon Athanasius Yosip, Chor-Bishop Polos Benyamin and Reverend Antwan Lachin.

Hundreds of faithful gathered to partake in the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins. Afterwards, parishioners once again met together in St. George Cathedral’s hall where the ladies’ committee had organized a meal for His Holiness and the clergyman.

The traditional ‘pallo’ took place where His Holiness cut the bread and divided it in small pieces, passing it to all the clergyman and attendees.

His Holiness gave his keynote address, thanking the ladies’ committee for their hospitality and the faithful for their presence. He further asked for the Lord’s blessings year-on-year as He has always bestowed upon us.
