Mar Thomas Church in New Britain, Connecticut, has a new parish priest, following the elevation of Shamasha Paulos Shimun by the hands of His Holiness Mar Dinkha IV, Catholicos-Patriarch of the Holy Apostolic Catholic Assyrian Church of the East.

Newly Ordained Priest for Connecticut

Mar Thomas Church in New Britain, Connecticut, has a new parish priest, following the elevation of Shamasha Paulos Shimun by the hands of His Holiness Mar Dinkha IV, Catholicos-Patriarch of the Holy Apostolic Catholic Assyrian Church of the East.

The ordination ceremony was held on 17 April, before the celebration of the Holy Feast of Hosana at St George’s Cathedral in Chicago, Illinois, where the Holy Eucharist was offered by His Holiness Mar Dinkha IV.

After the conclusion of the Holy Mysteries, a banquet was held in the hall of St George’s Cathedral for the newly ordained priest, where faithful were given the opportunity to congratulate Qasha Paulos before he embarked on his blessed journey in the city of New Britain.

Qasha Paulos was born in 1959 in Baghdad, Iraq, where he graduated from the School of Management and Economics – Department of Statistics, University of Baghdad.

He was ordained as a deacon in 1986 by His Grace Mar Aprem Khamis, Bishop of Western USA, and has since served in St George, St Sarkis, St John and St Andrew’s churches in Chicago, Illinois.

His father, Deacon Shimon Nimrod, serves in the Church of the Virgin Mary in Toronto, Canada, where Qasha Paulos also served as a deacon until 1998.
