Sydney Hosts Visiting Clergy

The Metropolitan See of Sydney and its parishioners have welcomed visiting clergy over recent months.

Reverend Antwan Mikhail, a priest visiting Sydney from Melbourne offered the Holy Eucharist to the parishioners of St Hurmizd Cathedral on 22 May.

Rev. Antwan was ordained a priest in early 2011, for the increasing congregation of church members in Melbourne.

As the co-parish priest for St George Church in Melbourne, Rev. Antwan and his congregation are eagerly awaiting the commencement of the construction of Mar Odisho Cathedral.

The planned construction will include the renovation of the presently standing Ishtar Reception and the building of the new church for the multitude of the faithful.

Following Rev. Antwan’s visit, Sydney was blessed with the arrival of Rev. Archdeacon Shlemon Khazqiel visiting from Chicago, USA.

Rev. Archdeacon Shlemon offered the Holy Eucharist at St Hurmizd Cathedral on 10 July. Coincidently, the date was the commemoration of His Beatitude Mar Yosip Khnanisho the Saint.

This allowed Rev. Shlemon to express his experiences with His Beatitude Mar Yosip, as he spent time with the saint in the last years before his passing.

Rev. Shlemon is the senior clergyman in Chicago, where he works closely with His Holiness Mar Dinkha IV Catholicos Patriarch to ensure the church in Chicago provides all the essential services to the parishioners until an expected bishop arrives to serve the Church.
