Assyrian Church Delegation Visits Iraqi Ambassador in Damascus

The committee of St. George Parish, Damascus, and the Assyrian Church of the East Relief Organisation’s (ACERO) board of directors have visited the Iraqi Embassy in the Syrian capital.

The delegation, led by Rev. Archdeacon Toma Oraham and Rev. Toma Asitivo on 25 October, was welcomed by Dr Alaa Al-Jewadi, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq.

As the Ambassador recently had some health concerns, the delegation visited to enquire as to his health and to offer their best wishes.

The delegation presented a bouquet of flowers to the Iraqi Ambassador wishing him a speedy recovery, better health and future success in his service to the Republic of Iraq and its people.

The delegation noted that members of the Assyrian Church of the East have always been loyal and productive citizens of Iraq and, like other Iraqi-born residents of Syria, have fled their homeland due to current instability in the region.
