New Priest Ordained in Holland

Members of St. Mar Benyamin Shimun the Martyr Parish in Holland recently welcomed, with joy, faith and love,  His Grace Mar Odisho Oraham, Bishop of the Assyrian Church of the East, Diocese of Europe on 30th of January, 2009. His Grace was received at Amsterdam Airport by Reverend Stephan Yalda and the Parish committee members.

On the following day, the Eucharistic Liturgy was consecrated by His Grace Mar Odisho Oraham during which he announced the appointment of Reverend Stephan Yalda as the official Parish Priest of St. Mar Benyamin Shimun the Martyr Parish in Holland. His Grace also discussed recent developments in the Church as well as planned spiritual activities for the Glory of our Lord. The Eucharistic Liturgy was attended by a large number of faithful members of our church in Holland.

On the same day His Grace departed Holland and went to London accompanied by Reverend Stephan Yalda. His Grace and Reverend Stephan were received by Reverend Archdeacon Younan Youel and the committee members of St Mary Church. Also in attendance were Reverend Albert Benyamin, Priest of St. Mari Parish in Denmark as well as Reverend Ishmael Tamras, Assistant Priest of St. Mary Church in London.

On Sunday, 1st of February 2009, His Grace ordained 3 Readers to the Holy Diaconate following which Deacon Tony Emanuel Malham was ordained to the rank of Priest and installed as the official Parish Priest for St. Mary Church in London.

The Eucharistic Liturgy was followed by a breakfast given at the Assyrian Association Centre with Church faithful in attendance. All members expressed their joy at the pastoral visit by His Grace Mar Odisho Oraham.

We extend our congratulations to His Grace Bishop Mar Odisho Oraham, Reverend Tony Emanuel Malham and the members of St. Mary Church in London on the ordination of a new priest as well as three Readers who will carry the Lord’s Cross and follow in His footsteps in preaching the love and faith which the Lord God has shown unto the world.
