Official Proclamation for Assyrian Martyrs Day

Assyrian Martyrs Day, the 7th of August, has been officially recognized with a City Proclamation by the City of Modesto, California.

The City Proclamation, presented on the 13th of October, was received on behalf of Modesto’s Assyrian residents by His Grace Mar Awa Royel, Bishop of the Diocese of California and Secretary of the Holy Synod, assisted by Archdeacon Nenos Michael, Chorbishop Auchana Kanoun and Reverend Genard Lazar.

The Diocese was appreciative of the continued efforts of local resident Carmen Morad, who was instrumental in securing the proclamation by the City.

The Assyrian Church of the East in Modesto would like to express its sincere gratitude to Modesto’s Mayor Ridenour and the entire City Council for this momentous proclamation in honor and memory of our departed Assyrian Martyrs.
