The Assyrian Church of the East’s Diocese of Canada has commemorated the 25 year ordination anniversary of Reverend Benjamin Benjamin with a day of worship, festivity and rejoicing.
Celebrating his silver anniversary of priesthood on the 3rd of October, Rev. Benjamin, currently the parish priest of St Thomas Church in Windsor, Canada, was honored with the presence of His Grace Mar Emmanuel Emmanuel, Bishop of Canada.
The Holy Eucharist was offered in the attendance of Rev. Alaekzyakon Odisho, Rev. Joseph Srmes, Rev. Younan Marwan and Rev. Joseph Terra at St Thomas Church, which was recently consecrated by His Grace.
In the evening, a reception was held in honor of Rev. Benjamin and attended by various newspaper and TV representatives as well as hundreds of faithful church members, showing their gratitude for the minister’s lifetime of service.
Rev. Benjamin was born in Basra, Iraq in 1944 and consecrated as a priest on the 6th of October 1985 by the hands of His Grace Mar Aprim Khamis.
He served his priesthood at Mar Odisho Church in Midland, Texas, Mar Shimon in Flint, Michigan, helped guide the church community of the newly built St Mary’s Church in Warren, Michigan and dedicated 22 years of service to St Mary’s Cathedral in Detroit, Michigan before his current service in St Thomas Church.
