The Metropolitan See of Sydney has been honoured and blessed with the presence of His Grace Mar Emmanuel Joseph, Bishop of Canada, who offered the Holy Eucharist at St. Hurmizd Cathedral to commemorate the Holy Feast of the Cross.
Hundreds attended the service, on Tuesday 13 September, along with students of St. Hurmizd Assyrian Primary School.
In his sermon, His Grace explained the meaning of the cross and its implications in the Christian affiliation, as well as highlighting the importance of the cross; one of the seven sacraments of the Assyrian Church of the East.
While explaining the importance of the cross, His Grace traced back to the time of Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Moses with the copper serpent and the symbolism of sacrifices each offered to the Lord, linking them to the Holy Cross.
His Grace also spoke on the Holy Trinity and its divinity, and presented the Khudra; the daily liturgies and prayers of the church.
At the conclusion of the Eucharistic Liturgy, His Grace joined the faithful in Edessa Reception Hall where they shared in a breakfast organised by the Ladies’ Committee of St. Hurmizd Cathedral.
