The life of the late His Beatitude Mar Yosip Khnanisho has been commemorated during a presented by Rev. Chor-Bishop Ashoor Lazar, parish priest of St Hurmizd Cathedral, Sydney.
The presentation, held on 10 July, was organised by the Youth Association of Sydney and was open to the public.
Hundreds of parishioners gathered to hear of the humble life of His Beatitude Mar Yosip, who was consecrated as a saint of the Holy Apostolic Catholic Assyrian Church of the East by the Holy Synod in 1989.
At the conclusion of the presentation, various attendees gave their testimonies and eye-witness accounts of miracles performed by His Beatitude Mar Yosip, before his death in Baghdad, Iraq on 3 July, 1977. Tears were shed and cries were heard after hearing the amazing stories.
One anonymous attendee offered up a cloak that was used by His Beatitude Mar Yosip while he offered the Holy Eucharist. Faithful kissed and touched the cloth, which has been known to show many miracles.
Following the emotional presentation, fellowship took place at St Hurmizd Assyrian Primary School building, with the Youth Association having organised activities for faithful, including the well known ‘Minute to Win it’ game.
There, 10 stations were set up with different fun-filled and exciting games. The winning teams eventually versed each other for the one and only prize.
The Youth Association of Sydney meets at 6:00pm every Sunday for weekly bible studies and fellowship at St Hurmizd Assyrian Primary School – all are welcome!
