His Grace Mar Awa Royel, Bishop of California, Assyrian Church of the East, has consecrated the Eucharistic Liturgy at St. Mary’s mission in Sacramento, California.
The parish celebrated the memorial of the Virgin Mary, on 20 August, which coincided with the one-year anniversary of the establishment of the mission, under the care of parish priest Reverend Father Genard Lazar.
A large number of faithful from Sacramento, as well as the parishes of Mar Addai, Turlock, Mar Gewargis, Ceres, and Mar Zaia, Modesto, were present to partake in the service.
His Grace gave a stirring sermon on the Virgin Mary and explained how because of her complete faith in God, she was able to accept God’s will and be the vessel by which mankind’s salvation would be enacted and completed, as per the Almighty’s perfect plan.
Following the offering of the Holy Eucharist, the faithful all gathered in the church assembly hall for fellowship and took part in the dukhrana prepared by the committee of St. Mary’s mission.
Faithful enjoyed meeting committee members and thanked the hard-working volunteers for such a beautiful and well-organized event.
May Jesus Christ bless and keep them, and may the blessings of the Ever-Virgin Mary, Mother of Christ, be with you all.
