St. Shmoni Church in Telkaif (Tel-Kepe), Northern Iraq recently held a breakfast for the Feast of St. Thomas the Apostle, given after the consecration of the Eucharistic Liturgy.
The activity was just one of the regularly offered ministries organised by parishioners and in particular the Youth Association, for the spiritual and social benefit of the larger community.
On the same day, parishioners organised a Bible Study session in which faithful discussed in groups the meaning and relevance of particular verses from the Holy Bible. Present during this program was Rev. Matthew Beto,
parish priest.
Hymns and songs were presented and offered to our Lord by the parish’s choir on this joyous and educational day. This practice was much needed, as the choir is planning to record various hymns in the near future.
After a spiritual and educational day, the youth sports sub-committee further organised a fun and energetic activity called ‘mini championships’. This was open to all young members of the community in the region’s parishes.
At the conclusion of the sport activities, awards and gifts were presented to the winning teams by the Youth Association committee.
