The Youth Association of the Assyrian Church of the East in Telkaif, Northern Iraq, has held a ceremony honoring parish members who are graduating from university.
The ceremony, which took place on 23 October, commenced with the Lord’s prayer followed by a speech presented by Rev. Chor-Bishop Yosip Beniamin.
Congratulating students on their success, Chor-Bishop Yosip highlighted their previous academic accomplishments and encouraged the pursuit of future goals and further education.
Set against Iraq’s current difficult circumstances, the ceremony was emotional and highlighted the courage of students who have endeavored to increase their education while surviving war, persecution and financial burdens.
Chor-Bishop Yosip strengthened the students’ faith by giving a heartening speech, preaching about God’s guidance throughout studies, trials and journeys.
He further thanked the Youth Association for organizing such a beautiful service and ceremony in honor of graduating students. Other Youth Association members presented numerous speeches as part of the program, expressing their pride in the graduating students.
Gifts and certificates were presented to all the students by Chor-Bishop Yosip who concluded the formal program with the cutting of the cake.
After the formal ceremony, a social event took place where entertainment, games and food were organized by the youth.
The president of the Youth Association then presented a gift to Chor-Bishop Yosip in gratitude of his help and encouragement throughout the years.
