Assyrian Democratic Movement Meets With H.H. Mar Dinkha IV

A delegation from the Assyrian Democratic Movement (ADM), Australia and New Zealand Branch, has meet in Sydney with His Holiness Mar Dinkha IV, Catholicos Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East.

Also present during the meeting was His Beatitude Mar Meelis Zaia AM, Metropolitan of Australia, New Zealand and Lebanon.

The visiting delegation included Emmanuel Sada, branch president, Himmler Youkhana, deputy branch president, George Adam, public relations officer, Zaia Zaia and Delilah Chenko

During the meeting, the representatives discussed with His Holiness the conditions of Assyrians residing in the homeland and the work being done to ensure their democratic rights. The delegation further stressed the need to gather and unite political parties in the homeland and work towards the establishment of a province in the Nineveh Plains where Assyrians from various churches can reside with their neighbours in peace and harmony.

“This will reduce immigration out of Iraq, reduce murders and intimidation, and it will establish an educational system where our language is taught,” said the ADM representatives.

The delegation applauded His Holiness for the tremendous work he has done in shepherding the Holy Church universally and for effective efforts to keep alive the language, traditions and faith of the Assyrian people in the western world in particular.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the ADM delegation asked for blessings from His Holiness in the hope that all the services of the church and nation may prosper so that our communities may stand strong and united for the sole purpose of maintaining our nationality and faith.
