His Grace Mar Isaac Joseph, Bishop of Northern Iraq and Russia, has officially opened a newly reconstructed church which was left ruined after decades of war and persecution.
St. Sawa Church is once again fulfilling its spiritual duties for the faithful inhabitants of the village of Ain Nuni (Kani Masi) in Duhok, Iraq.
The church, named after the great saint of the Hakkari Tyari, was completely destroyed by Iraq’s former regime in 1986 and recently rebuilt by the Assyrian Church of the East in Northern Iraq.
Present at the consecration of the church were parish priests from surrounding churches, deacons and many faithful of the surrounding villages.
The church will commence the offering of services for all its parishioners, a much needed convenience for the village.
