H.B. Mar Meelis Meets with Sydney’s University Students

His Beatitude Mar Meelis Zaia AM, Metropolitan of Australia, New Zealand and Lebanon, has met with a handful of university students looking to expand their knowledge of nationality and identity.

The group of students aimed to familiarise themselves with the opinions and attitudes of the Church, in the hope that it will help them pursue their careers and simultaneously aid their Assyrian community.

His Beatitude said he was proud of the students and their enthusiasm in working for their church and community. His Beatitude noted that immigration is not an obstacle preventing the future generation to obtain high education levels.

“The Church stands proud of all its graduates who are climbing their way up the ladder in Australian society and at the same time involving themselves and working for the church and their people,” said His Beatitude.

His Beatitude further explained that the Assyrian community has worked phenomenally in the past to establish the education facilities we have today.

As everyone listened intently, His Beatitude also mentioned the upcoming services and program that is to be established following the construction of the new Mar Narsai Assyrian College in Horsley Park next year.

The College plans to introduce a two-year course teaching the Church’s theology, spirituality, culture, history, philosophy and social basis of the Assyrian Church of the East and Assyrian nation.

His Beatitude prayed that God may guide and protect the students throughout their endeavours.
