H.B. Mar Meelis Zaia Metropolitan Calls on Syriac Orthodox Prelates in Sydney

His Beatitude Mar Meelis Zaia AM Metropolitan of Australia, New Zealand and Lebanon has welcomed to Australia His Excellency Mor Philoxenos Saliba Özmen, Syriac Orthodox Metropolitan of Mardin, Turkey and head of the Deir Za’faran Monastery.

The visit took place at the metropolitcal residence of the Syriac Orthodox Church in Sydney in the presence of His Excellency Mor Malatius Malki Malki, Metropolitan and Patriarch Vicar of the Syriac Orthodox Church in Australia and New Zealand.

During the meeting the Assyrian and Syriac Orthodox prelates discussed strategies to enhance ecumenical relations between the sister churches. His Beatitude Mar Meelis also stressed the important role played by the church in the provision of educational and social services to faithful in Australia.

Also accompanying His Beatitude Mar Meelis during the visit were Sydney priests; Reverend Narsai Youkhanis and Reverend Ninos Elya.
