A delegation of the Assyrian Church of the East, led by His Beatitude Mar Meelis Zaia AM, Metropolitan of Australia, New Zealand and Lebanon has welcomed to Australia His Beatitude Mar Louis Raphael I Sako, Patriarch of the Chaldean Catholic Church.

The Assyrian Church of the East in Sydney has recently established the Assyrian Church of the East Children’s Association (ACECA) with the motto of Children of God. The Children’s Association was officially established by Rev’d Narsai Youkhanis along with the ACECA committee in February and the teaching term commenced in March with the blessings of His Beatitude Mar Meelis Zaia AM, Metropolitan of Australia, New Zealand and Lebanon. Registrations for the ministry were available throughout February for children aged between three and thirteen. The curriculum comprises of a practical and hands on bible study, daily prayers, church hymns and Assyrian language for the different ages. For parents of children under the age of three, ACECA organises an hour long childcare program with the support of staff at the church’s Grace Childcare Centre located at Polding Street, Fairfield. “It is inspiring to see a sea of over 200 Assyrian Christian children gathered every week wearing their ACECA shirts eager to learn, create friendships and grow together, both spiritually and physically”, said one of the parents. On Saturday 13 April 2013, the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago held an outreach session aimed at the Assyrian community of Illinois.

His Grace Mar Paulus Benjamin, Bishop of Chicago and Eastern USA consecrated the Eucharistic Liturgy on Tuesday March 26, 2013 at Peterson Park Health Care Center in Chicago where many Assyrian faithful are currently residing. His Grace was assisted by the Rev’d Archdeacon William Toma and Deacon Dadway Daniel.

His Grace Mar Odisho Oraham, the Assyrian Church of the East’s Bishop of Europe, has called upon The Revd Canon Jonathan Goodall, Ecumenical Secretary of the Archbishop of Canterbury at London’s Lambeth Palace upon the invitation of the Ecumenical Secretary.

His Grace Mar Odisho Oraham, Bishop of the Assyrian Church of the East, Diocese of Europe arrived at Rome International Airport on Monday 18 March 2013 in preparation to attend the Papal inauguration of His Holiness Pope Francis at St Peter’s Square in the Vatican representing His Holiness Mar Dinkha IV, Catholicos-Patriarch.

His Beatitude Mar Gewargis Sliwa, Metropolitan of Iraq and Russia, has welcomed His Beatitude Mar Louis Raphael I Sako, newly-consecrated Patriarch of the Chaldean Catholic Church to the Baghdad Archbishopric on Sunday 17 March 2013.

His Grace Mar Yohannan Yoseph, Bishop of India has visited Muscat, Oman, arriving on 10 December 2012 at Muscat International Airport. The formation of a mission congregation in the Omani capital was conceived by His Beatitude Mar Aprem, Metropolitan of Malabar and All India approximately two years ago and stewardship of this mission assigned to His Grace Mar Yohannan Yoseph, Bishop.

The inaugural Hope Christmas Festival has been held on the grounds of Assyrian Australian Social Centre (formerly Nineveh Club) in Edensor Park, Sydney. The event, described as a resounding success by its organisers, the Assyrian Church of the East Youth Association – Sydney, attracted thousands of faithful and locals.

The Assyrian Church of the East Youth Association – Sydney has held its Annual Retreat for 2012 at Youthworks Watersleigh Campsite in Shoalhaven from Friday 30 November until Sunday 2 December.

Following up on to the previous visit in October of 2010, His Grace Mar Awa Royel, Bishop of the Assyrian Church of the East, Diocese of California, and Secretary of the Holy Synod, accompanied by his secretary Rev. Fr. Genard Lazar and Deacon Allen Youssefi returned to Hong Kong, in response to an invitation from the Jingjiao Fellowship and its director Mr. David Tam.
